the courtesy wave…
Posted in annoying people at 11:53 pm by freebloggingwoman
I have to complain. I was going to try to keep one day of blogging to light hearted things, but I forgot. I have to complain. I KNOW I live in one of the top 3 worst places to drive or the rudest drivers or whatever, but how much does it take for a courtesy wave once in a while? I don’t think I’m asking for much. Just a little acknowledgment saying “thanks for not sideswiping my brand new luxury model SUV when I recklessly pulled out in front of you and nearly killed us both…” Or “thanks, I know it’s 9:12 and we both should have been to work quite some time ago, but I deem my existence much more important than yours so if you don’t mind, I’ll be pulling out so abruptly that you’ll likely have to slam on the breaks causing your work issued laptop to careen into the glove box and the entire contents of your purse to end up on the floor… thanks!”
It seems that only women have the courtesy wave gene as well. I don’t doubt some of you men out there who fancy themselves metrosexuals (or whatever) and who feel comfortable sporting a full-on pink shirt and not protesting that it’s “salmon” when asked think they have the courtesy wave under control, but until I see 5 fingers waving and not just the one, I’m not buying it.
Tomorrow, try a little wave. Thank someone for their recognition of you as a fellow driver, an individual, a real live person…And I guarantee then you will feel much better at the next yellow light when you are forced to lay on the horn as the idiot in front of you slows down like it’s a caution or something???
